Folks - Bill C-51 threatens your rights & freedom to take care of yourself, family & loved ones. The Canadian government is attempting to deny our rights to access, obtain & grow natural health products including vitamins, supplements, herbs, medicinal plants & fruits, even things like dandelions, cranberries & blueberries. Furthermore Bill C-51 is attempting to prohibit people from selling, giving advice, and treating people with natural health products.
This bill has passed a speedy second reading in the Canadian House of Commons, yet no mention has been made in the media of this attempt by the Harper government & Big Pharma to deny us our right & freedom not only to take care of ourselves, but to even obtain basic vitamins, supplements & herbs to enhance our daily life. They are also attempting to deny us access to allopathic & homeopatic medicines whihc have been around since the dawn of time.
May 10th is a National Day of Action here in Canada. If you value the rights & freedoms enshrined in our Constitution, make your voice heard.
• Seize your bank accounts
• Levy fines up to $5 million and a jail terms up to 2 years for merely selling an herb
• Confiscate your property, then charge you storage fees for the expense involved in storing all the products they stole from you
C-51 would even criminalize the simple drying of herbs in your kitchen to be used in an herbal product, by the way. That would now be categorized as a “controlled activity,” and anyone caught engaging in such “controlled activities” would be arrested, fined and potentially jailed. Other “controlled activities” include labeling bottles, harvesting plants on a farm, collecting herbs from your back yard, or even testing herbal products on yourself! (Yes, virtually every activity involving herbs or supplements would be criminalized…)”

If you value your freedoms which are your constitutional right as a Canadian, write your MP, sign petitons, get out there & protest. Don’t let US Big Pharma bully us into surrendering our rights & freedom to determine our health & well being.
This whole subject requires far more research and public opinion before making these changes. I for one have heard little and now there is consideration for a law that would virtually change my way of life, possibly with drastic consequences.
What’s really irksome is that the Canadian government is pretending to be doing this for ‘the safety of our families’ (according to the daily ads in the local papers). Nor it is admitting that they are under intense pressure from the FDA to control growing, storing & dispensing various herbs included in the new bill.
They’re being a little too rigid in what they want to control. LOL.
